Itinerary No. 3 - Lungolaguna Trento
Lignano Sabbiadoro
Among the various panoramic points of Lignano Sabbiadoro, the one linked to the “cycle-pedestrian path of Lungolaguna Trento” stands out, which extends along the entire embankment of the Lagoon, declared a protected area of international value. The gaze of those who walk along it is immediately attracted by its naturalistic richness. From the embankment, in fact, you can admire unique sunsets that, in their various shapes and colors, are reflected daily in the calm waters of the Lagoon, creating plays of light and shadows of rare charm. The embankment of the Lagoon is adorned with lush vegetation, with reeds that sway gently to the rhythm of the wind creating, together with the birdsong, a natural symphony that invites meditation and relaxation. The local fauna further enriches this idyllic picture: aquatic birds, such as herons and swans, move gracefully on the surface of the water. At certain points you can abandon and resume the path to visit some nearby areas of particular interest.
The route starts from “Porto Casoni”, from the small local dock. At the height of Via Verona, the first place that invites you to slow down is the “Belvedere Trabucco”, a point from which you can observe a panorama of extraordinary beauty. On nice days, when the sky is particularly clear, you can see the Friulian Alps on the horizon. The second panoramic point is located at the height of Via dello Stadio.
Proceeding along the path you can admire the Arena Alpe Adria, which has always been the location of musical events, shows and events of the seaside resort. Leaving the path you can refresh yourself in the shade of the maritime pines in the green park of the Municipality of Lignano Sabbiadoro, equipped with games for children and areas for picnics.
After resuming the route, and after a short ride, you can go down again to Via Mezzasacca, to visit the little church of San Zaccaria, the only religious point of reference for the farmers and fishermen of the coast and the Lagoon until the 19th century. The little church has the typical architectural elements of Friulian votive buildings: a gabled façade with a bell gable, a rectangular hall with exposed beams and a smaller presbytery. In 1984 the building was completely restored and the green space surrounding the little church was also arranged.
Horse lovers can also leave the route at Via Brescia, where the riding club managed by the amateur sports association Circolo Ippico Lignanese is located. Members have the opportunity to ride a horse through the pine forest in the summer and on the beach in the winter.
The cycle-pedestrian path (average travel time: 53 minutes on foot and 11 minutes by bike) ends at Via Pantanel. From here you can extend the trip by another 1.5 km (average travel time: 18 minutes on foot and 4 minutes by bike). The first stop to reach is Acquasplash, a water park in Lignano where you can spend a refreshing and fun day as an alternative to the beach. A short distance away you can reach the G. Teghil municipal stadium and the G. Teghil sports hall. The facility is named in memory of Guido Teghil, the first mayor of Lignano Sabbiadoro who died prematurely in a road accident, and over the years it has hosted numerous local sports teams.
Near the G. Teghil municipal stadium, every Monday from 7.30 to 13.30 (in the summer) the weekly market of Lignano will give you the opportunity to buy clothing, objects and food and wine products in a colorful and fun setting.
