Itinerary No. 2 - Drink & shop path
Lignano Sabbiadoro
This itinerary is dedicated to lovers of shopping and food and wine experiences.
The route begins in Piazza Gino Ursella, a hub of various pedestrian and bike paths connecting the sea and lagoon to the towns of Sabbiadoro and Pineta. Recently renovated and modernized, it serves as a vibrant gathering place.
Nearby is the Lignano Sabbiadoro bus station, the new service terminal for public transportation. Also close by is Parco Junior, an amusement park filled with attractions and snack bars designed for families with children of all ages. A few steps from the square is CineCity, a fully refurbished multi-purpose venue hosting a rich cultural program, including films, concerts, and theater performances. Many events related to the Hemingway Prize, held each June in Lignano Sabbiadoro, take place at CineCity.
From Piazza Ursella, the route follows Viale Centrale, leading to Viale Venezia, a pedestrian area and the main avenue of this seaside town, renowned as the “avenue of shopping,” featuring restaurants and trendy spots along Via Udine, Via Venezia, and Via Tolmezzo.
At the entrance to the avenue, you can admire one of the town's fountains. The walk takes us to the heart of Viale Centrale, where on the north side, you’ll find the entrance to the square of the San Giovanni Bosco Parish Church, while on the south side lies the beautiful San Giovanni Bosco Park. This central park in Lignano features a children’s area with the historic Carousel of Horses, play areas, seesaws, and swings, all surrounded by benches and lush greenery. It is just a stone’s throw from the beach near Beach Office No. 6.
Walking toward Piazza Fontana and continuing along Viale Gorizia, near Beach Offices Nos. 4 and 5, you’ll reach the Terrazza a Mare, the symbol of this seaside destination. Inaugurated in 1972, it features a long elevated pedestrian walkway over the beach, partially covered, ending in a grand white shell-shaped structure with vaulted coverings and a panoramic viewpoint where a small lighthouse is located. This venue is ideal for weddings, conferences, and private events, offering a spectacular sea view and unforgettable sunsets. The structure houses a multi-purpose hall and a restaurant-bar, surrounded by a characteristic terrace providing a 360° view of the breathtaking scenery.
Retracing Viale Gorizia and continuing along the pedestrian paths of Via Udine and Via Tolmezzo, also known for shopping and food and wine experiences, the route ends at the pedestrian avenue’s terminus near Viale Italia. From here, heading left, the route concludes at the Darsena Porto Vecchio, the first historical marina of Lignano Sabbiadoro. It offers a spectacular view of the lagoon and romantic sunsets.
