As part of the initiatives for the 50th anniversary of the Friuli earthquake (1976–2026), the Arena Alpe Adria will host a major event dedicated to the memory, hospitality, and rebirth of our communities.
A deep bond was forged during the dramatic months of '76, when Lignano welcomed over 20,000 displaced people from the earthquake-stricken areas—including many citizens from Gemona—onto its coastline, turning its vocation for hospitality into an extraordinary proof of solidarity.

Presentation of the permanent sculpture "Two shores, a single memory" by artist Alessandra Aita, created using driftwood collected along the Tagliamento River, a natural element that ideally unites Gemona and Lignano Sabbiadoro.
Photographic Exhibition and Testimonies
The Arena parterre will host the photographic exhibition "From silence to light" created by the Foto Cine Club Lignano, a journey through images and memories dedicated to our city's role as a land of welcome. The exhibition will create a dialogue between those who lived through that history and those who safeguard its value today: the Alpini, the Civil Protection, the Bersaglieri, and the young people of L-HUB Park.
Concert Event (9:00 PM)
Following this, the music and testimony show "From silence to light," passionately conceived and curated by Sand of Gospel together with The Powerful Gospel Chorale: a journey of songs, images, and words to pass this memory on to future generations.
"The intertwining of these two simultaneous events and the related initiatives, so carefully crafted and offered to our City by the Artist and local associations, does not merely aim to commemorate a tragedy, but to recount the value of solidarity and transmit it to new generations," emphasizes the Deputy Mayor with responsibility for culture, Manuel Massimiliano La Placa. "Remembering what the community of Lignano did in '76 means remembering that in the most difficult moments, one can choose to open their doors and become part of another community's history."
