Tiziano Fratus presents his essay “The Simenon Affair”
Lignano Sabbiadoro
2/24/2026
Tiziano Fratus, writer and poet, is an expert and passionate reader of Simenon. At the Library he will present his essay dedicated to the life and works of one of the most popular and prolific authors of the twentieth century. His book is a true “guide to the writer,” ranging from the novels featuring Commissaire Maigret to the vast narrative production with other characters, themes, and settings. From The Port of Mist to The Saint-Fiacre Affair, from The Donadieu Testament to Pedigree, Fratus conducts a genuine “investigation” into the Belgian writer, providing readers with a “vademecum” that will help them navigate more easily through the entire “human comedy” that continues to captivate readers of George Simenon.
The event is organized by the Municipal Library of Lignano Sabbiadoro as part of the “Lignano Noir Festival.” The festival pays tribute to the writer Giorgio Scerbanenco, widely recognized as a master of Italian crime fiction. After discovering Lignano as a tourist and being fascinated by the ever-changing shades of the sea, the pine forest, and the modernity of the city taking shape, he chose it as a place of residence and inspiration for his novels.
