In the old barbershops of small provincial towns, amid fogged-up mirrors, creaking chairs and the scent of hair pomade, people came for more than just a shave or a haircut.
These were gathering places where people chatted, drank coffee, listened to music and enjoyed the barber’s stories and anecdotes between one customer and the next.
Nuova Barberia Carloni recreates the atmosphere of that bygone world, transforming the stage into a lively barbershop run by three aspiring barbers who sing, play music, serve drinks and, of course, shave and cut hair.
The auditorium becomes one big waiting room, with the audience becoming an integral part of the performance.
