The "Lignano Noir Festival" pays tribute to the writer Giorgio Scerbanenco, a recognized master of Italian detective fiction who, after discovering Lignano as a tourist, chose it as his home and an inspiration for his novels.
Right near his former residence, the festival opens with a concert on Thursday, September 3rd at 9:00 PM in Piazza Ursella, a place particularly dear to Scerbanenco, who lived in the 1960s at the Palazzo Celeste in Lignano City. The songs of those years will be performed by the Black Gold group, led by pianist and keyboardist Dario Dal Molin alongside singers Anna Danieli and Luca Bettella.
On Friday, September 4th, the cultural events begin at the Library:
At 6:00 PM: Cecilia Scerbanenco will present the volume "Si paga sempre" by Giorgio Scerbanenco (La Nave di Teseo), a collection of short stories written in the immediate post-war period, from 1947 to 1949.
At 6:30 PM: Presentation of the "True Crime a Nordest" series — Raccontare oggi la cronaca nera di ieri in 65 episodi (NEM publisher) with Paolo Cagnan, series editor and deputy director of Nord Est Multimedia with responsibility for digital, and Luana De Francisco, head of the Udine chronicle for Messaggero Veneto.
On Saturday, September 5th:
At 5:00 PM: Luca Crovi (writer and essayist, and one of the leading experts on detective/noir literature) presents the national preview of his novel "L'aquila e i lupi" (Sem), and Franco Forte (editorial director of Mondadori newsstand series, including Il Giallo Mondadori, Urania, and Segretissimo) presents "Vero. Il romanzo di Marco Aurelio, l’imperatore filosofo" (Mondadori).
Followed by Alberto Pezzotta (essayist, cinema and detective fiction expert, professor at IULM University in Milan) presenting his monograph "Il noir italiano prima e dopo Scerbanenco" (Mimesis ed.).
At 6:30 PM: The festival's closing event: the awards ceremony for the 12th edition of the Scerbanenco@Lignano Prize. The winning stories will be read by the expressive voice of actor Massimo Somaglino.
Special Radio Broadcast: During the festival, RADIO RAI 1 FVG will broadcast a special program titled "In dedica al maestro del giallo Giorgio Scerbanenco": Antonia Pillosio and Giacomo Plozner, joined by Cecilia Scerbanenco and Oscar D’Agostino, will be on air from September 2nd to 4th at 2:15 PM and on September 5th at 11:30 AM. On Friday, September 4th at 2:00 PM and Saturday, September 5th at 11:00 AM, the public can attend the live radio broadcast at the Lignano Sabbiadoro Library.
