An Author’s Summer – A Chat Between Us at Al Cason
Lignano Sabbiadoro
6/24/2025
The literary series “An Author’s Summer – A Chat Between Us – at Al Cason” includes five evenings of book presentations with authors, taking place on Tuesday, June 24, Tuesday, July 8 and 22, Tuesday, August 5, and finally Tuesday, September 2, at 6:45 PM at the restaurant "Al Cason".
The event is organized in collaboration between
Pro Loco Enjoy Lignano and the Writers’ Association of Friuli Venezia Giulia (SCRITTORI FVG).
June 24 – Gorizia - Nova Gorica by Andrea Bellavite
Gorizia and Nova Gorica are an anthropological space to explore and love. Plato and Aristotle, East and West, North and South intertwine in the languages and gestures of the “Gorizians.” It’s a mosaic of architecture, flavors, sounds, and colors to discover by seeing through people’s eyes their deep roots, painful wounds, and courageous rebirths. Best seen by bike or on foot — but reading is enough too. And dreaming.
July 8 – Trieste 70 – Stories of Freedom, Identity and Territory
Various authors – Writers' Association of FVG
No other Italian city represents the idea of a border and divided memory like Trieste — an identity defended at all costs, and freedom won in a very recent historical moment. With support from the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, this anthology brings together the best stories from the "Trieste 70" literary contest, dedicated to the city and its people’s struggles and triumphs in 1954.
July 22 – The Snow by Giorgio Piller
Eva, Marco, Antonio, and Mila. Four characters, four intertwined stories, four broken hearts, and four souls seeking redemption. What is the red thread that binds them? And what will their redemption look like? A powerful, emotional story of resilience and determination.
August 5 – The Dragon’s Chair by Christiano Sacha Fornaciari
Written with the precision of a historical essay and the tension of a novel, this book recounts Brazil under military dictatorship. From 1964, during the Cold War, Brazil was ruled for over two decades by generals who tortured and murdered dissidents, persecuted intellectuals and artists, discriminated against the LGBTQ community, and enforced strict censorship on all media.
September 2 – Argo – Secret Life of a Camper by Cristina Cristofoli
An old 1980s work truck, destined for demolition, is unexpectedly saved by a couple of travelers. Despite limited money and no technical skills, they manage to transform it into a unique off-road camper — fulfilling their dream.
