Event
73rd National Bersaglieri Rally
Lignano Sabbiadoro
5/18/2026
From May 18 to May 31, 2026, Lignano Sabbiadoro will become the beating heart of the Bersaglieri community in Italy, hosting the 73rd National Bersaglieri Gathering.
PROGRAM
MONDAY, MAY 18
9:00 PM – At Cine City: cultural meeting with Prof. Michele D’Andrea, “The Curious Quirinale”.
Everyone is invited, free admission subject to seat availability.
The residence of the President of the Republic is an inexhaustible source of memories, a treasure chest overflowing with epoch-making events, anecdotes, and stories—both great and small—that have marked more than four centuries of history. Since 1585, thirty popes, one emperor, four kings and eleven presidents have linked their names to the Quirinale Palace, whose 1,200 rooms have witnessed the lives of countless figures beyond the majestic gate of Piazza di Montecavallo. A gate crossed for over thirty years by the narrator himself, who will guide us on an unusual behind-the-scenes journey through the most beautiful palace in the world.
TUESDAY, MAY 19
10:00 AM – At Cine City: cultural meeting with Prof. Michele D’Andrea, “The Anthem Revealed” – reserved for school groups.
A lively talk about “The Song of the Italians”. Written during President Ciampi’s term and first presented at the Quirinale during the Youth Project, it has since been performed more than one hundred times throughout Italy.
An ironic and engaging journey back in time focusing on the Italian national anthem, exploring the curiosities and anecdotes surrounding its creation, success, meaning and present-day perception. The presentation also includes references to other famous songs of Italian independence and comparisons with national anthems from other countries, revealing fascinating and surprising background stories.
