Yacht Club Lignano: The Autumn Championship of the Lagoon and the Cruising Trophy Return on 8 November
Four days of racing for the 37th Autumn Championship of the Lagoon and the 13th Autumn Cruising Trophy. Two formats designed to welcome crews with different levels of experience, offering the opportunity to compete even without an ORC certificate, special discounts for boat owners and the traditional hospitality of Yacht Club Lignano.
In Lignano Sabbiadoro, the sailing season does not end with the arrival of autumn! From 8 to 28 November, the 37th Autumn Championship of the Lagoon and the 13th Autumn Cruising Trophy return, organised by Yacht Club Lignano under the authority of the Italian Sailing Federation (Federazione Italiana Vela) and in collaboration with Compagnia del Vento. The events are held under the patronage of the Regional CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee) and the Municipality of Lignano Sabbiadoro.
Four days of racing are scheduled: Sunday 8, 15 and 22 November, and Saturday 28 November. The races will take place in the waters off Lignano Sabbiadoro, south of the offshore buoy.
A format open to sailors without an ORC certificate
The aim is to involve as many boat owners and crews as possible, from competitive sailors to those who prefer a more recreational approach to racing.
The Autumn Championship of the Lagoon includes the ORC, Minialtura and Crociera fleets. The Crociera class requires an FIV-by-ORC rating certificate, which the organisers will arrange free of charge for anyone who does not already have one. Real-time results will also be available for all participants.
For those who prefer to sail under white sails, the Autumn Cruising Trophy returns with courses featuring fixed turning marks or triangular layouts. Spinnakers and gennakers are not permitted, and results will be calculated in real time.
These two formats offer a double opportunity to take part with your own boat, test your skills and share four days of sport and passion for sailing.
What’s new for 2026: Discounts, gifts and the option to enter individual race days
One of this year's highlights is the “Bring a Friend” promotion (“Porta un Amico”). Boat owners who introduce another owner who did not participate in Yacht Club Lignano’s autumn events in 2023, 2024 or 2025 will receive a €30 discount on the entry fee.
Each registered boat owner will also receive a personalised gift, alongside the traditional giveaways for participants.
To make participation even more accessible, sailors can register for one or more individual race days. In this case, boats will be included in the daily results but will not count towards the overall standings of the respective event.
Yacht Club Lignano’s hospitality extends ashore
As tradition dictates, the programme will not end when the last boat crosses the finish line. At the end of each day, crews can gather at the Blu Marlin bar at Marina D-Marin Punta Faro to enjoy the much-loved Roncadin pizzas and other regional specialities.
On Saturday 28 November, following the final races and the prize-giving ceremony, the championship will conclude with the traditional closing party, featuring spit-roasted meat and music.
The usual complimentary berthing offer for boats registered for the championship is also confirmed, from 31 October to 6 December. Berths must be arranged with the host marinas, D-Marin Punta Faro and Marina Sant’Andrea.

The Notices of Race for both events are available on the Yacht Club Lignano website.
Discounted entry fees apply to registrations completed by 5 November 2026. Pre-registrations must reach the club secretariat by 8:00 pm on Saturday 7 November.
The first warning signal is scheduled for Sunday 8 November at 10:25 am for the Autumn Championship and at 10:35 am for the Cruising Trophy, in accordance with the respective Notices of Race and subject to any subsequent announcements.
With these two events, Yacht Club Lignano once again invites boat owners from the northern Adriatic to extend their sailing season, offering opportunities for sporting competition, new ways to participate and moments of conviviality.
